September 26, 2017
SUMMIT TWP, Pa (Butler Dispatch) – A new grant established to help replace old traffic lights will help out a busy portion of Route 422 in Summit Township. New lights have been ordered for the intersection, according to a July 19th meeting at Summit Township. This cost over $15,000 to replace along with new battery backups.
It was noted previously in meeting minutes that the lights are deteriorating, and new lights would be better. This intersection also has a “red light alert” system which flashes to oncoming vehicles of when the light is re or will be turning red by the time the vehicle approaches the light.
The township also approved for new traffic light battery backups for $4,426.10 – this comes after the lights turned off at the Route 422, Route 38,a nd Route 68 intersection several times. This caused traffic delays for a while. The batteries were older than the standard 5-year lifespan.
