The Slippery Rock Fire Department was running call-to-call when Mercer County 911 requested their assistance for a house fire just over the Butler County line. According to reports, a house received over $250,000 in damage and is now unsafe to live in due to a fuel-spill in a basement of the 1-story home.
The house which sits on Slippery Rock Road in Liberty Township was a complete loss. Fire officials confirmed a man spilled fuel inside the basement, and cleaned it up with a rag.
The male then tossed the fuel-soaked rag into a nearby wood burner, which sparked a large fire. The homeowner was able to escape unharmed.
